Launch of a low-carbon transport offer through the construction of the NEOLINER, a 136-metre vessel powered mainly by wind enabling savings of more than 80% in terms of greenhouse gas emissions compared with a conventional ro-ro vessel. The project will be developed by a new shipping company, NEOLINE Armateur, in which ADEME Investissement is a shareholder.



The ship will operate on a transatlantic route between Saint-Nazaire (France), Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon (France), Baltimore (USA) and Halifax (Canada).

Expected impact

The NEOLINER cargo ship project aims to massively reduce the carbon footprint of the maritime sector, with greenhouse gas savings of more than 80% when compared with a conventional ship.
